SRK ‘Black Belt’ Khan

After receiving laurels from governments of foreign nations, Shah Rukh Khan will now be the recipient of a special honour, conferred by the Korean government. Delegates from the Korean government have landed in New Delhi last evening and are scheduled to fly down to Mumbai on Thursday morning. Shah Rukh, touched by the gesture, has agreed to be present at the ceremony to accept the honour.

Shah Rukh’s close friend reveals, “These developments took place a couple of weeks ago. Shah Rukh will be conferred with a Black Belt Honorary in Taekwondo. Not only that, he will also be the ambassador of the Korean Culture and Tourism. SRK is mighty excited at this and feels modest that he is going to be the recipient of such a prestigious honour.”

Shahrukh on cover of Bollywood Glitz

BizAsia.co.uk has received exclusive information from B4U Network about its upcoming showbiz magazine called Bollywood Glitz.

The launch issue consists of 150-pages (front cover image below) and features Bollywood icon, Shah Rukh Khan, as the magazine's cover story star. He speaks to B4U exclusively about his upcoming release, 'My Name Is Khan'.

This issue will be extra special to coincide with the festive season, as well as B4U Network celebrating ten years of broadcasting. Bollywood Glitz's first issue will also include a light-hearted banter with Katrina Kaif and Jay Sean, who recently topped the US Billboard charts.

Bollywood Glitz will be a quarterly publication consisting of interviews with leading Bollywood stars, film gossip, stars' lifestyle, music and fashion.

With B4U Network foraying in other forms of medium illustrates the broadcaster’s specialism in the Bollywood genre. The magazine is set for global release this week and will be available in the UK, USA, Canada, and U.A.E.

Kevin Rego, International Head Of Sales and Marketing, states, "We are extremely thrilled to release the first issue of our entertainment Magazine Bollywood Glitz in time for the Diwali festival. Soon, SRK in a flick on social networking

From virtual to reel, the Facebook fancy of our film folks goes a step further, as Shah Rukh Khan gears up to produce and act in a movie on the popular social networking site.

The film is produced by Khan's Red Chillies Productions in association with the Morani Brothers of Cineyug, and marks the directorial debut of TV anchor and radio personality Roshan Abbas. Confirms Mohammad Morani, "We are coming up with a film on Facebook and similar social networking sites in collaboration with Red Chillies, and Shah Rukh might act in it. The talks are still on"

The film is based on Abbas play, Graffiti - Post Card From School, which deals with the problems of teenagers and adolescents. Zoa, daughter of Karim Morani, also makes her acting debut with the film. Zoa has been working as an assistant with directors like Farah Khan and Rajkumar Santoshi. She was seen in a bit role as one of the aspirants for the Shantipriya lookalikes in Om Shanti Om.

Elsewhere, Hollywood filmmaker David Fincher is in advanced talks with Columbia Pictures to direct The Social Network, a film based on the true story of the founding of Facebook. The screenplay is based on the book The Accidental Billionaires.

The film will see actor Jesse Eisenberg playing Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, pop star Justin Timberlake as Napster co-founder/Facebook president Sean Parker and Andrew Garfield taking on the role of Facebook co-founder Eduardo Saverin.

SRK's always game for audacious stunts

Farhan Akhtar says Shah Rukh Khan will be performing daring stunts in Don 2.

"He's always game for the audacious. But the health problems really frustrate him," says the director referring to the SRK's shoulder surgery this year.

But now SRK is all set to bounce back with a full-on actioner in Don 2.

And there's Priyanka Chopra for company again.

Bipasha Basu who has been eased out of Race 2 firmly believes leading ladies don't have a future in sequels.

But here's one to prove her wrong. Though Priyanka has apparently been left out of Dostana 2she's very much a part of Don 2which starts shooting, finally, in May 2010 in Ireland and Berlin.

In fact Don 2 will be the first Indian film to be shot In Dublin.

Says the producer Ritesh Sidhwani, "We're very much going ahead with the original cast Shah Rukh, Priyanka, Boman Irani, Arjun Rampal and Om Puri. Only those who died in the original won't return, obviously."

Also, for obvious reasons, this time there won't be a double role for Shah Rukh. What he will be doing is, some of the most heart-in-the-mouth stunts ever done by any leading man and certainly SRK's most audacious actioner yet.

For this Shah Rukh needs to recover from this year's back surgery.

Says a source, "This is why he allotted dates in 2009 to Karan Johar's My Name Is Khan. It requires very little physical exertion whereas Don 2 is a kick-ass role."

When the proposal to do the sequel first came up Shah Rukh was very sure it would have to go beyond the first part in terms of locales, action and drama.

Says producer Ritesh Sidhwani, "We're shooting Don 2 in Dublin .No Indian film has been shot there. We want to make sure that the sequel goes ahead of the first film. While the first part was a remake the sequel is an original script and would be much tougher to film for Shah Rukh and Farhan."

Shah Rukh Khan is the latest Bollywood superstar to enter the webspace with the launch of his personal blog on the official websiteof his IPL team - 'Knight Riders'. The following is Shah Rukh's firstever blog that he wrote after 'Knight Riders' were defeated by'Rajasthan Royals' in their last match on April 23:

The beginning of a new day!

When the season started, I thought I would write every couple of days to all our fans that visit our site.

Firstly, thanks for doing so and a special thanks to all who believe inthe Knight Riders and support us as a team. Apologies for not being aregular at my blog or actually not even writing the first entry withthe start of the season. So here is the first one.

I thought I would start the first write up by detailing the thresholdand culture of this franchise. That would have been apt if we hadn'tstarted playing. Right now, as I write at 5 a.m. in Cape Town, havinglost yet another game, which we could have won, the heart is heavy andthe mind is numb. Full marks to Rajasthan Royals for proving that atrue champion team does not choke at the finish line. Congratulationsguys.

Since the commencement of this season, we have a trail of one win outof three, which is not a good position to be in. So at this time I willnot get into why the franchise was started and what dreams we all haveas far as our ambitions are concerned. All ambitions finally will getfulfilled only when the team wins and keeps true to the faith that allour fans have invested in us. Till such time, I am going to talk a bitabout the game as I understand, which needless to say is quite limited.I will also talk about the role that I choose to play as part of theKnight Riders.

I treat this team as I treat my own children. I am quite a dotingfather and perhaps a bit too emotionally involved with all the thingsmy team goes through. I feel like crying when they lose and go wildwith happiness when they win. Throughout the tournament last year, myonly concern was that the team members should not in any way feel sador bad after the losses we suffered. If I could, I would want to takeall the disappointments they face with every loss or a bad performanceonto myself. As much as I try, I now realise that it is not possible.

This is a set of professional players and they seem to understand onerule that most of us cannot understand. And the rule is that this is agame, and one team will lose while the other will win.

If either the success or the defeat of the last match lingers beyond aday, it would be impossible for them to face a new match and a newchallenge the next time round, with full steam and gusto. They gatherthe broken pieces, try and understand what could be done better andstart afresh. Like a father learns from his children, I am beginning tounderstand this lesson too. Earlier I used to pep talk our team beforeand after every match, so that their morale would remain positive. Asthe year has passed into another, I now realise that these boysactually walk the talk; and I need to do the same. I am learning fromthis whole experience that the more I practice, the easier things seem.

The harder I run, the farther I can go. The more I pray, the less Ifeel the burden of performance. Also I am learning that after doing allthis, there is no guarantee of winning everyday. So all one can do isto give it your best shot and leave the rest.

In attempting to give it our best, our team has taken lots of unpopulardecisions. Starting with, the multiple captains to choices of whom weplay in which match. A truckload of criticism from all quarters hasbeen dumped at our doorsteps. Every time I go and sit in the stadium, Ifeel the weight of all the choices made. If we come out winners throughthis tournament, will I feel vindicated? The answer is no. If we don'tperform as well as we should, would I feel we did the wrong thing?Again the answer is no.

The decisions we take in life, need not always lead to a black andwhite solution as in mathematics. The decisions are guidelines andbeliefs we chalk down our path towards a goal. Sometimes we get to thegoal inspite of the decisions and sometimes because of them. And thereare times when all goes wrong. The strength lies in sticking to a paththat you chose to begin with. As the journey progresses, whether thatpath turns out to be tough or easy, you have to follow it becausetherein lies your principles and beliefs.

Assessing how a ball should be played after seeing it at 1500 framesper second on your television sets is one thing…but to take that splitmillisecond decision, when the ball tears down at you, at 150kilometers per hour, is another ballgame altogether. In retrospectthings can be explained and faults and genius can be torn apart orpraised, but in the moment that you have to live and deliver, a pathhas to be chosen and walked on, with complete belief that it will workout fine.

I don't know if the path we have chosen is correct or not…and that'swhy we won't feel vindicated in victory and neither will we feelashamed in defeat. It's just a path we the Knight Riders have chosen towalk on and will stick to it, till the very end. I hope all those whobelieve in this team will walk along with us.

This is getting as long as a Test Match, and I need to end it. I canfeel the first rays of the Sun beginning to break through. A new day isabout to begin. The defeat still lingers thick in my mind…so I will tryand sleep it off and start afresh again. I know my boys will do thesame. We will face our disappointments head on with a smile and aprayer. I close my eyes with these thoughts from Theodore Roosevelt:

It is not the critic who counts;

Not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles,

Or where the doer of deeds could have done them better.

The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena,

Whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood;

Who strives valiantly;
